Many are more concernned with what will HAPPEN "if" they go to deadly force,and even some will wrongly "stand their ground" instead of rapidly retreating.This could happen to any one of us and I'm sure the Deputy didn't just stand there and take a beating becuase he didn't know what to do-he went into a "routine"( uuughhh ,hate that term) situation and got worked by people who knew they had superior #s and also "knew",or at least formulated the opinion, that they could group attack him without fear of serious reprisal.
